This event is hosted by the KWVR, and organised by the Keighley Bus Museum.
Vintage Buses & Trains in Abundance !
SUNDAY 4th JULY will see the Keighley Bus Museum Trust (KBMT) organising the third annual KEIGHLEY FESTIVAL of TRANSPORT at the Ingrow Railway Centre, hosted by the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway (KWVR). The spectacular event brings together in one place many forms of transport – heritage diesel trains and buses from the 1960s, ranging right back to steam trains and carriages from the 1890s !
“The public will have inter-active access to a veritable cornucopia of vintage buses, cars and trains along the whole 5 mile length of the Worth Valley” said KBMT Chairman Graham Mitchell.
- The Ingrow Railway Centre will host a large (free access) display of vintage lorries and buses from the KBMT Collection and elsewhere,
- A display of vintage cars and light commercialswill be held at Oxenhope station.
- Extra rare-used wooden-bodied Victorian Railway Carriages from the Museum of Rail Travel will be used on passenger services, hauled by a rare open-cabbed Victorian locomotive formerly with the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway..(locomotive subject to availability)
- A service of Heritage buses - including open top services - will operate, giving scenic views of the Worth Valley and Bronte Country.
The whole Worth Valley will be linked by an integrated timetable of KBMT buses and K&WVR trains giving a high frequency service between Keighley and Oxenhope from 9.40 am to 5.45 pm. Please also note that the charity event "Oxenhope Straw Race" is being held in Oxenhope village on this date, so all visitors are strongly encouraged to use these buses & trains as there will be only limited car parking space available at Oxenhope Station. There will be additional car parking available adjacent to Ingrow station, and on Sundays ample parking is available at Keighley station.
The Train and Bus Timetable for this event is available HERE. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE ADVERTISED 1700 hrs TRAIN FROM KEIGHLEY TO OXENHOPE HAS BEEN WITHDRAWN DUE TO OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS. This train is still shown on the timetable above however, but please note that the 1700hrs train from Keighley to Oxenhope will not run.
