1965 - The first steam locomotive arrives at Haworth

The first locomotive to arrive at Haworth following the formation of the Preservation Society was ex-Lanacashire & Yorkshire Railway 'Pug' No. 51218. It is seen (below left) in Haworth Yard following its tortuous trip from Lancashire, having been purchased for the Railway by Mr Richard Greenwood. It was soon pressed into use and is seen (below right) on an early outing to Oxenhope - the driver was the late Trevor Owen, the late Bob Cryer is next to the buffer stop, and Mr. Richard Greenwood is to be seen is the white overalls.
