Steam Locomotives
Over 30 locomotives are based at the KWVR. Most can be seen by visitors, but some are housed away from public view whilst under restoration for future use.
The Railway maintains a fleet of about 5 or 6 'working' steam locomotives, with a rolling programme of maintenance and overhauls for another 4 or 5 engines so that we can keep a steady fleet of working engines.
Others are stored at Oxenhope in our Exhibition Hall, which means that the general public can interact and view them and more importantly that they are kept under cover from the harshness of the weather that can so badly damage them.
A viewing gallery and picnic area overlooks the locomotive works at Haworth from where you may see more locomotives being restored or prepared for service.
The award-winning Museum of Rail Travel at Ingrow has a superb collection of historic vehicles and is open every day except Christmas Day. Free admission is available to KWVR Day Ticket holders. For more information on the museum - click here
