Operating Updates
Page Updated 26th June 2009
Steam Gala Weekend - No good gala is complete without a bit of diesel haulage - even a steam gala! The Steam Gala, this weekend (26th - 28th June), will feature diesel locomotive action on the mainline shuttles to Settle Junction & Ribblehead. West Coast Railways are operating shuttle services between the KWVR Platform 3 and Settle Junction during the day, with an evening trip to Ribblehead on the Saturday. The services will be top & tailed steam & diesel to avoid running round at Keighley, Settle & Ribblehead. West Coast have advised that the diesel loco being provided will be 37516. Full details HERE.
TICKETING ARRANGEMENTS - UPDATE: Following feedback, we have decided that there will be a "mainline trains only" ticket for the above gala, which will allow travel on the KWVR Mainline steam / diesel shuttle trains between Keighley & Settle Junction. It will not allow travel on the evening Ribblehead excursion as this is fully reserved. The ticket is available from Keighley Station KWVR Ticket Office, or from the ticket inspector on the train. It is priced at £22.
Locomotives - After a successful Diesel Gala on 5th - 7th June, 20031 is still available for traffic. 25059 has been stopped again to allow for further bodywork repairs - full details below. 20031 operated the Works Train duties on Saturday 20th June, which included shunting wagons at Ingrow and coaches at Oxenhope. It also towed a visiting steam engine from Ingrow to Haworth after its arrival by road.
Units - The Class 108 DMU will work morning Diesel Services at Weekends, with the next scheduled work for the Railbus being on Yellow Midweek Dates.
????
Locomotives (2) - Keep checking this page over coming weeks as this will be the first place to announce some exciting news about the Diesel Fleet at the KWVR. It's all still 'hush hush' at the minute, but readers of this page will be the first to hear the breaking news - whatever it may be - when we are in a position to make an announcement!
Repair & Restoration Updates
Updated 22nd June
Class 25 - 25059

(Photo: Tim Moody)
This loco has now been taken out of traffic again after the Diesel Weekend. Repairs have been completed on the Keighley end cab before the diesel weekend, but work will now start on the Oxenhope end cab. Once the bodywork repairs have been completed, the cab interiors will be completed to the same high standard as 20031. A Full photo summary of the loco, on 31st December, is available by clicking on the picture above.
Class 101 (51803)
This vehicle has been released from the VCT Workshops at Ingrow, and looks splended inside and out. There are some minor finishing touches to the cab to do, and a new set of batteries require fitting. It is expected that this vehicle will make its debut in passenger service over the Diesel Gala Weekend in June.
Pictures of 51803 are available by clicking on the picture below.

Class 101 (51189)
This vehicle is still at Oxenhope receiving attention from the Carriage and Wagon fitters. A new roof and floor has now been fitted, the interior has been painted and all seat frames have been reurbished and seat cushions re-upholstered. Once the interior has been finished, only outstanding mechanical jobs (new gangway connection, engine and bogie swap and cab repairs) will require completion before the vehicle is ready for service. Click on the picture below to see pictures of the vehicle on 18th February 2009 as work progresses, as well as pictures taken before work started last year! .

Shunter D226 "Vulcan"

Not much has been said of this loco recently, but we can assure readers that work continues to return the loco to traffic. A full report on the work progress has been prepared by Peter Turner the loco's caretaker, and can be found, along with some pictures, by clicking on the picture above.
